AISAB joins ASSISTAL: a new partnership to strengthen the biomedical services sector

AISAB – the Italian Association of Biomedical Equipment Services – has joined ASSISTAL as an Aggregated Association, marking a new step in its growth and in the representation of companies operating in the biomedical technology services sector.

Founded in October 2025, AISAB (Associazione Italiana Servizi Apparecchiature Biomedicali) brings together companies specialising in the integrated management of medical devices and in maintenance, technical assistance, repair and refurbishment services for biomedical and electromedical equipment. These activities play a key role in ensuring the safety, efficiency and operational continuity of technologies used every day in public and private healthcare facilities.

ASSISTAL is part of Confindustria system and represents companies operating in technical services and technological systems, with a strong focus on the safe and efficient management of infrastructures and technologies. The partnership with AISAB therefore brings together organisations that share a common objective: enhancing technical expertise and supporting the qualification and development of specialised companies.

L’ingresso in ASSISTAL nasce con un obiettivo preciso: rafforzare la rappresentanza del comparto, valorizzare le competenze tecniche delle imprese associate e costruire posizioni condivise sui temi strategici per il settore.

AISAB’s membership of ASSISTAL is aimed at strengthening the representation of the biomedical services sector, promoting the expertise of member companies and developing shared positions on the key issues affecting the industry. The partnershipwill also help reinforce dialogue with institutions, the Italian Government and the wider Confindustria network.
As Roberto Rossi, ASSISTAL Chairman, highlighted, “behind every piece of equipment operating every day in a hospital ward or operating theatre is the work of highly specialised companies, often largely unseen but essential to the quality of care.” The inclusion of AISAB broadens ASSISTAL’s representation to a sector united by the same commitment to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of technologies and to promoting technical expertise and industry qualification.

The first concrete initiatives are expected in the coming months, with the launch of joint technical working groups focused on developing regulatory proposals and initiatives to support the growth and qualification of the sector.

According to Angelo Maresca, AISAB Chairman, joining ASSISTAL represents “an important step for AISAB and for all companies operating in maintenance services for biomedical equipment.” He stressed the essential role played by the sector in ensuring the availability and reliability of healthcare technologies, supporting the continuity of clinical activities and patient safety. He also highlighted the high level of expertise developed by the Italian clinical engineering sector at European level and the importance of giving these capabilities stronger and more structured representation.

Through this partnership, AISAB strengthens its role as a reference point for companies in the biomedical services sector and further develops its commitment to technical expertise, professional qualification and a safer, more efficient and sustainable healthcare system.
